Groww, a leading fintech platform in India, has introduced two new features—Safeguard and F&O Pause—designed to help Futures & Options (F&O) traders manage risk and minimize potential losses. These additions are part of Groww’s commitment to offering tools that enhance investor protection as India’s financial markets become more complex.
F&O Pause:
This feature allows traders to temporarily halt their F&O trading activities during periods of market uncertainty or at their discretion. The pause is intended to prevent impulsive trading decisions and limit exposure to market volatility. Traders can restart their F&O activities at any time, and while the pause is active, they can still invest in other financial products, such as mutual funds and stocks.
Safeguard:
This feature is geared toward traders who consistently experience losses. If a trader repeatedly incurs losses, they will be required to provide additional information to assess whether they should continue trading F&O on the platform. If they do not complete this within 30 days, their F&O trading account will be paused, although they can still participate in other investment activities on Groww. These features complement Groww’s existing Safe Exit option, which automatically exits F&O positions when losses reach a predetermined threshold, providing an extra layer of protection against significant downturns.

India’s F&O market has experienced significant growth, with participation increasing by 42.8% year-over-year, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s June 2024 Financial Stability Report.
